A remodel and addition to this iconic 1985 Isaac Maxwell residence reimagines the home for a growing family of four. Nestled amongst lush vegetation, the design honors the home’s original mid-century Texas design while introducing a modern touch. A new second-story volume accommodates two additional bedrooms as well as a secondary living room, while also reshaping the kitchen, stairwell, and primary suite layouts on the primary level.
The primary level renovations included removing the dividing wall between the kitchen and the living room, allowing for natural sunlight to settle its way in. Beside layout reconfigurations, wooden cabinetry and furniture was added to create a warm feel throughout these primary gathering spaces.
Referred to as “the core of the home,” the stair hall is situated at the center of the residence. Its new layout connects the kitchen and living room spaces in the primary level to the secondary level’s bedrooms and living room.
